This shadow box does not have glass installed!  Cut glass is hard to find in our area and we would like to avoid the hassle of shipping with glass and risking breakage.  This helm should have double strength 1/8" glass installed by your local glass store - it should cost about $30 and we are reducing the price by $50 without glass.  I am a retired Navy veteran of 20 years.  During my service I made many of these helms for shipmates.  Due to their popularity, we are now offering these hand made helms to the public.  This batchis made from aged maple that was harvested in Upper Michigan in the early 1900's - we were able to find enough of this wood to make a limited amount of these helms - there will only be 12 made.  The colors are spectacular - birdseyes and knots, beatle marks and age checks, all make for excellent viewing.  This helm has been treated with oil, sealed in an oil based satin poly and hand rubbed with paste wax - it will continue to darked with age and become a deep golden yellow.
