Description
BAYNES Scotch Tension Single Treadle Unfinished Spinning Wheel Kit plus Extras You are looking at one sweet compact well designed wheel that works perfectly the first time it is used. There is virtually NO break in period. Baynes Spinning wheels are ideal for beginners through experienced spinners. I easily spin a thin single from alpaca roving (and yak fluff!) on the 5.5:1 ratio and mulberry silk and cashgora on the 7.5:1 whorl. You would only need the faster flyer if you spin lace weight singles. You are looking at a beautful well kept secret for an excellent price. Any wheel we sell comes with advice as needed. We are adding an accessory package of machine oil, a special SpinningBunny stretchy poly band and 4 ounces of practice combed top. These unfinished kits are well sanded when you get them. Very little preparation is needed before adding stain and oil. Complete this wheel kit in the color and finish of your choice at a considerable savings over a finished wheel. 10% of the price of this wheel will be donated to Heifer International. Measurements: • 16 in. (400mm) diameter wheel, • 31 in. (800mm) from floor to orifice • 3/8” (10mm) spindle orifice for spinning a large range of fibers from very fine to medium. • 5.5, 7.5:1 OR 9 and 11:1 whorl ratios • Weight Approx. 12 lbs (5.7 kg) • 17?" x 15" deep (450mm x 380mm) looking from the top (floor space) Comes with: • Four 5 ounce bobbins Scotch Tension - single drvie • Single Treadle • Integral Lazy Kate • One flyer in your choice of 5.5 & 7.5:1 or 9 & 11:1 • 2 regular stretchy drive bands (one is extra) • Wooden handled orifice hook • A spares kit which contains seconds on all hardware - a circlip, extra spring, grub screw and other such bits and pieces and also an extra set of hooks. • Very clear assembly & operating instructions. • GUARANTEE- all parts, materials and workmanship for 2 years. Your completed Baynes wheel is easily transported to guild meetings on the seat of your car secured with a seat belt. The bobbins will not fall off because of a clever special clip holder and rod that firmly holds the bobbins onto the built-in 3 bobbin Lazy Kate rack. The finished machine can be assembled in approximately 30 minutes by reading the easy-to-follow, step by step instructions that are included. This Baynes wheel also comes with operating instructions and our advice as needed. Smooth graphite bearings, which have been developed especially for Baynes, make for long life and smoother quiet spinning. They only need oiling at the beginning of use. Most of the wheel is made of solid NZ silver beech in Ashburton, New Zealand by the Bebbington family. The wheel rim is made of NZ beech veneered MDF composite for extra stability and the bobbins are MDF as well. Well oiled MDF bobbin shafts spin as well as metal bearings. A unique feature of the Baynes wheel is the patented flyer unit from which the bobbins can be removed and replaced in seconds without disturbing the driving cord/band. The rear flyer support has a lever fitted for easier removal of the 5 oz capacity bobbin. The treadle is placed in the precise position for your foot to work with a smooth “heel and toe” action, therefore reducing strain on your ankle. This kit offers you durability and quality spinning, and is backed by more than 24 years experience of manufacturing spinning wheels. SHIPPING IS FREE worldwide. There will probably be an added value tax or duty fee that you will be responsible for when this wheel is delivered outside the USA. Susan's SpinningBunny suggests that by ordering now you can be in spinning heaven in 1-2 weeks. We also thank you for helping Heifer International, an organization that teaches women, children and men wordwide, to be independent through respectful care of their livestock, stewardship of their land with a pass-it-on philosophy.
